# How to remove yourself as a teacher from a class

## Learn how to remove yourself as a teacher from a class in Wellio, or reassign it to a colleague if you're the only teacher currently assigned.

If your timetable has changed and you're no longer teaching a particular class, you can remove yourself as a teacher directly from the class itself. 

### How to remove yourself or others as a teacher

1. Go to the class page.
2. Click ***Manage Teachers***.
3. Find the teacher in the list and click ***Remove.***

### What if there is only one teacher assigned?

You won't be able to remove this until someone else is assigned to the class.

In ***Manage Teachers***, choose another teacher to take over the class, then remove the intended teacher as normal.

🔔 If you don't have another teacher to hand the class to yet, check with your school's Wellio admin before removing yourself – the class will need cover.

### Why does this matter?

Keeping teacher assignments up to date makes sure the right person sees the class on their timetable and receives student data and notifications for it - especially useful after a timetable change, handover, or when a class changes hands partway through term.
