# How to run an assessment on paper

## Download and print your assessment questions and marking guide - and what to expect in Wellio afterwards.

No devices in class? No problem - you can run an assessment on paper. This article is for **teachers**, and for **admins** at device-free schools.

### How to download and print an assessment

1. Click ***Classes*** and open your class.
2. Find the week the assessment is scheduled for. If it's the current week, it appears at the top of the **Class** page.
3. Click ***Download questions***. You'll get a Word document, ready to print.
4. Click ***Print marking guide*** to open the guide as a PDF.

Admins can also find these under ***Insights*** → ***Assessments***. Click the assessment's title, then use the ***Download questions*** button or the **⋮ menu**.

**You don't need to unlock anything.** Unlocking only opens the assessment for students to complete on their own devices, so device-free schools won't see an ***Unlock*** button at all.

### How do I mark a paper assessment as completed?

You can't at the moment. Wellio can only track answers that students submit in Wellio, so there's no way to enter paper answers or mark the assessment as delivered. Keep the marked papers, or your own record of the results, at your school.

### Why isn't there a Print Worksheets option?

Assessments aren't lessons, so they don't have a **Print Worksheets** option or a lesson **Prepare** page. Use ***Download questions*** on the class page instead.

### Can I change the questions before I print them?

Yes. The questions download as a Word document, so you can edit your copy before printing. If you change a question, remember to update your marking too, as the marking guide won't change.
